Evening Moisturizers

Now you know how to cleanse, tone, scrub and mask your skin. You know the value of serums. Now its time for the finishing touch – the moisturizer.

Let’s begin with the evening moisturizer. You’ve cleansed, toned and applied the appropriate serum(s) now you want to seal in all that good treatment while adding hydration. Enter the evening moisturizer.

Evening moisturizers are generally heavier than those for day wear. While sleeping the skin temperature is cooler, skin cells are recovering and renewing themselves. All this activity makes the skin more receptive to richer more emollient products. The evening moisturizer is there to feed and hydrate the skin while in the recovery mode.

In addition to humectants the evening moisturizer should contain antioxidants.

I carry 6 evening moisturizers so that all skin conditions can be addressed from dryness, to a need for plumping and collagen building, to lighter moisturizers for oily skin or skin that needs healing and, of course, there are evening products for mature skin or skin that is exposed to harsh or cold climates.

Remember it only takes a little bit, but the results over time can be impressive.

As a side note: scientific study published in 2001 Journal of Investigative Dermatology* shows that sleep deprivation disrupts skin barrier function homeostasis making the skin vulnerable to premature aging and some skin diseases.
